Our Founder: Theodore Alatsas, Esq.

Theodore Alatsas is an esteemed estate planning and elder law attorney based in Brooklyn, New York. He has over 30 years of legal experience, and is a graduate of St. John's University School of Law, New York University and Brooklyn Technical High School. Theodore is a lifelong resident of Brooklyn and comes from a Greek immigrant family. Throughout his life, he has volunteered his time and legal expertise to improve his community. He is a member of several legal associations, including the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), the New York State Bar Association, the Brooklyn Bar Association and various other Bar Associations. Theodore has been recognized by Lawyers of Distinction, listed as a Top 10 Elite Lawyer, and named one of the Best of the Best Lawyers in Estate Planning. Born to Greek immigrants in the early 1970s and raised in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, Theodore learned the value of perseverance from an early age. Working his way through high school and college at his parents' deli, he developed a strong work ethic and a deep sense of community commitment.

An exemplary student and community activist, Theodore attended Brooklyn Technical High School before earning a scholarship to New York University. He later graduated from St. John’s University School of Law. Throughout his academic journey, Theodore consistently volunteered his time to assist those in need—a trait that continues to define his professional career.

After law school graduation in 1995 from St. John’s University School of Law with a J.D., Theodore began practicing law right where he grew up—in the same location as his parents' Greek deli. Over time, he specialized primarily in divorce and family law while maintaining a compassionate approach designed to guide clients smoothly through legal processes.

Public Service Roles

Theodore's dedication extends into public service roles as well; he has been nominated for various public offices including Brooklyn District Attorney and Brooklyn Borough President. In 2002 Governor Pataki appointed him as a member of the Public Service Commission Siting Board—a role that allowed him further influence over public policy affecting his community.

Today Theodore continues residing in Brooklyn with his wife and daughter—living proof that home truly is where the heart is—and is fluent in Greek & Spanish, languages which further enhance his communication capabilities within the diverse communities served by Alatsas Law Firm located at the same cherished spot he was raised.
